Discussion Group & Community Meal - Jesus in His Own Words Series

  • West Valley Neighborhood Church 6191 Bollinger Road Cupertino, CA, 95014 United States (map)

We are going through a weekly series called Jesus in His Own Words. Each week, we investigate a key identity statement Jesus made about himself, and what that means for us. Whether you are simply curious about Jesus or you long to know him more deeply, investigating and reflecting upon what Jesus told his listeners about who he is a great place to start. These statements are recorded by the disciple, John, and are known as the I AM statements of Jesus.

TWO FORMATS, ONE THEME

DISCUSSION GROUP & COMMUNITY MEAL

On the other Sundays* (January 18, 25; February 15, 22, 29), we will be meeting at 4:15pm across the courtyard in McHattie Hall for a more casual, interactive discussion. We’ll still sing worship songs to God to open our time, and then we’ll dig into the Bible passage for the day. No prior background knowledge is needed, and if you need a Bible, let us know—we’d love to give you one! And if you prefer to listen rather than talk, don’t worry—you won’t have to share anything unless you want to. *(On February 8th, we’ll move our group to 10:30am, since Levi Stadium is hosting the Super Bowl!)

Since this space we’re meeting in is smaller, and we’ll be ordering dinner based on the number of people who are coming, we appreciate your RSVP to hello@wvneighborhoodchurch.org.

WORSHIP SERVICE & COMMUNITY MEAL

On Sunday January 11, Sunday February 1, and Sunday March 1, we will meet at 4:15pm in the sanctuary for gathered worship; these worship services will incorporate liturgical elements like prayers, creeds, a sermon, and communion. And since we love to spend time together, like our usual monthly services, we’ll still come together afterward for a community meal. Let us know if you have any food restrictions or allergies that we can accommodate!

WHICH FORMAT IS FOR ME?

Our hope is that people can follow along on the whole eight-week journey, joining both formats for a more well-rounded and holistic learning experience, as well as cultivate deeper community and connections through more consistent presence. We aim to make both the worship service and the discussion group format accessible to people from any background.

But the best way to know for sure is to come to the first one of each format, on January 11 and January 18.

And as always, you can drop us a line at hello@wvneighborhoodchurch.org with any specific questions you have about what to expect—we’d love to fill in any details.
